CoinStats, Delta, CoinTracker alternatives: which crypto portfolio tracker?

Every crypto portfolio tracker shows a total. What sets them apart is what they understood about your transfers, your wallets and your cost basis. Here is the checklist I use, and what each tool's own pages say.

Four icons, a price chart, a bank, a document and a wallet, linked to a grid comparing their criteria, next to the Crypto Master logo.

Every crypto portfolio tracker shows a total value, and it is usually right. The differences show up elsewhere: a Coinbase-to-Ledger withdrawal counted as a sale, an Arbitrum wallet nobody looked at, a cost basis you have to type in. My own portfolio spans seven platforms and eighteen wallets on seven networks. That is what I tested the checklist below against.

Checked on October 10, 2026, against each tool's own pricing page and help center. This comparison is updated every six months at the same address; the changelog is at the bottom.

Four kinds of trackers, four different questions

"Crypto portfolio tracker" covers tools that don't answer the same question.

KindThe question it answersExamples
Price trackerWhat are the coins I list worth?CoinGecko
Net worthWhat is everything I own worth, crypto included?Delta, Kubera
Tax softwareWhat goes on Form 8949, and does it match my 1099-DA?CoinTracker, Koinly
Crypto portfolioWhat do I hold, where, and at what cost basis?CoinStats, Zerion, Crypto Master

A tax tool can track a portfolio, and a net worth app can show crypto. But each is built around its own question. If yours is "how much have I really made, across every account", you want the fourth kind, or a carefully kept spreadsheet.

The seven criteria that matter

App store pages talk about "1,000+ integrations" and "real time". What matters when your crypto lives on several accounts is more down to earth.

  1. Real read-only access. An exchange API key should read and do nothing else. Check that the tool says so, and tick only the read permission yourself: creating a read-only API key takes five minutes.
  2. Wallets by public address, and the xpub. A Bitcoin Ledger uses a new address for every payment it receives. Only the extended public key finds them all, as explained in tracking a Ledger without plugging it in. No serious tracker asks for your recovery phrase.
  3. Networks. The same 0x address exists on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base and more. A tool that only reads Ethereum shows a wrong balance without warning you.
  4. Cost basis across all accounts. Bitcoin bought on Kraken and sent to Coinbase keeps its purchase price. The tracker has to follow the transfer.
  5. Transfers between your own accounts. In my history, three quarters of deposits and withdrawals are moves from one of my accounts to another. A tool that doesn't match them invents as many buys and sells.
  6. DeFi and dust tokens. An Aave deposit or a Uniswap position is not a plain balance. And 23 of my 49 on-chain positions were tokens sent by strangers, which shouldn't count anywhere.
  7. The free plan, and what you pay next. Count your accounts and your transactions first: limits apply to one or the other.

The comparison, tool by tool

The big table below sets the eight tools against eleven criteria. Every cell comes from the tool's own pricing page or help center, read on October 10, 2026. "Not stated" means the tool doesn't say so anywhere, not that it never will. On a phone, the table scrolls sideways.

CoinGecko: the right tool for watching prices

CoinGecko's portfolio is free and good at watching a list of coins. It reads wallets on 19-plus EVM networks by public address, and the rest is typed in by hand. It doesn't connect to any exchange, and it says nothing about matching transfers or DeFi positions. Premium costs $10 a month and raises the limit to 100 wallets.

Delta and Kubera: net worth first

Delta, now "Delta by eToro", tracks stocks, funds, crypto and NFTs in one app, on mobile, desktop and the web. Its exchange guide is explicit: it only accepts read-only keys and declines the others. The free plan tracks 10 assets; PRO is $6.99 a month and PRO+ $13.99, where gains reporting lives. Transfer matching and DeFi aren't mentioned.

If Delta stopped showing your data, you are not alone. Its help center published a recovery form in August 2026 for accounts that lost data or their PRO subscription in the move to eToro.

Kubera is a net worth balance sheet: banks, brokers, real estate, and crypto by exchange key or wallet address. It tracks some DeFi, such as Uniswap pools and Maker vaults. There is no free plan: $250 a year after a 14-day trial.

CoinTracker and Koinly: tax first

Both exist to produce Form 8949, and both now reconcile your 1099-DA. Both match transfers between your wallets, accept xpub keys, and handle staking, lending and liquidity.

CoinTracker's free plan covers tracking without forms. Paid plans run from $59 to $1,999 a year, depending on how many transactions you make in the tax year. Koinly is free up to 10,000 transactions but doesn't let you download a report until you pay, per tax year: $49 for 100 transactions, $99 for 1,000, $199 for 3,000. Both work as day-to-day trackers. But their screens think in tax years.

CoinStats and Zerion: crypto portfolios

CoinStats tracks exchanges, wallets and DeFi positions on web and mobile, with a generous free plan in transactions. Its cost basis uses FIFO, "first in, first out". Transfers are not matched. One global switch either counts incoming transfers as buys and outgoing ones as sells, or ignores them all. Premium is $13.99 a month, billed yearly.

Zerion is a self-custodial wallet that also tracks any address on EVM chains and Solana, DeFi positions included. P&L is a $99-a-year Premium feature, per wallet. It doesn't connect to exchanges, and a send to another address is booked as a realized gain.

The spreadsheet

For one exchange and a few buys a year, a spreadsheet is enough, and it is the most transparent tracker there is: you see every formula. My free crypto portfolio spreadsheet is a good start. It breaks on transfers, crypto-to-crypto trades and daily interest.

What Crypto Master does

Crypto Master is of the fourth kind. Your exchanges connect through a read-only API key or their files, Coinbase, Kraken and Robinhood included. Your wallets are added by public address or xpub, never a recovery phrase. The cost basis is computed across all accounts, and a withdrawal to your Ledger isn't counted as a sale. It's up to date every time you open it, with nothing to re-enter.

Crypto Master demo dashboard: total value, covered cost basis and unrealized gain at the top, then the list of coins, with USDC and aEthUSDC brought together in one block, and their allocation ring in four buckets, with the checkbox that hides three unsolicited tokens
The demo portfolio: several accounts, one cost basis per coin.

Aave, Compound, Maple and Kamino loans and Uniswap, Aerodrome and Orca liquidity are matched, with interest, fees and gas. Tokens sent by strangers are greyed out and kept out of totals.

Crypto Master demo DeFi page: four USDC loans, on Aave v3 (Ethereum) and Kamino Lend (Solana), two settled with their net profit and return after gas, two still open; then four liquidity positions on Uniswap v3 and Orca, two in the pool and two withdrawn, compared with holding the tokens
The demo DeFi page: every operation, gas fees deducted.

The free plan covers 3 connected accounts and 500 transactions; Master is $2.99 a month for 8 accounts (see pricing). You can try all of it in the demo, no sign-up.

How the IRS counts cost basis

A tracker tells you what you made, coin by coin, across your accounts. The IRS counts differently: since January 1, 2025, cost basis is tracked wallet by wallet, not as one pool. And your broker's Form 1099-DA only carries the basis of coins bought and held there since 2026. Your full history is what fills the gap on Form 8949.

Crypto Master prepares those Form 8949 rows for you, in every plan, free included. It rebuilds your lots account by account, applies FIFO, HIFO or LIFO, and splits short-term from long-term. You get one CSV row per lot and a PDF summary, to check against your 1099-DA.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free crypto portfolio tracker?

For watching prices, CoinGecko. For a portfolio spread over exchanges and wallets, CoinStats or Crypto Master, within their free plans.

What's a good alternative to the Delta app?

For net worth with stocks, Kubera. For crypto alone, with cost basis across accounts, CoinStats or Crypto Master.

Why is the Delta app not working?

Delta moved to eToro in 2026, and some users lost their data or PRO plan. Its help center has a recovery form for them.

Do I need to give a tracker my API keys?

Only a read-only key you create yourself on the exchange. It can't trade or withdraw.

Which tracker reconciles my 1099-DA?

CoinTracker and Koinly reconcile it and produce Form 8949. Crypto Master prepares Form 8949 too, with lots tracked account by account, to check against your 1099-DA.
